Familiar

You are familiar
You're not healthy for me
Or encouraging to me
But you're familiar
Like an old blanket
Tattered and worn
All I can wrap around me is the memory
Of the threads of time that have not yet unraveled
Of the sentimental nature of this true fabric
But I can't expect this
To warm me in the cold...
You, this is familiar
And it's so easy to regress into that comfortable place
But I refold and put away your possibility
For I am no longer accustomed to the cold...
