I hold a secret
In my genes
A truth you may
Be surprised to find
One that rich pigment
Might not show
That you and I
Are intertwined
I've native South American
I've Welch and Swedish too
I've Mali and I've Cote d'Ivoire
And even Cameroon
And that's just on the one side
I got a bit more digging
But finding treasure deep inside
Is only the beginning
To know the reason why I love
All people far and wide
Is because they are all my family
My kin is humankind
